Japanese wood industry media has recently reported on the expansion of Fuqing Vietnam Wood Industry Co., Ltd., highlighting the company’s second LVL manufacturing facility and the growing demand for its products in the Japanese market.

The coverage provides further third-party recognition of Fuqing’s long-term focus on manufacturing capability, product consistency and reliable supply for Japan.

Expanding Capacity in Response to Market Demand

According to the report, Fuqing Vietnam has completed the installation of production equipment at its second plant adjacent to the existing facility.

The new plant covers approximately 22,000 m² and is expected to reach a maximum annual production capacity of around 30,000 m³. Its primary products will be non-structural LVL studs for the Japanese market, with Styrax used as the main wood species.

Trial production is currently underway, and production volume will be increased progressively.

The investment follows continued growth in Japanese demand.

Fuqing Vietnam’s first plant began operations in 2024 and currently produces approximately 3,000 m³ per month. According to the Japanese media report, its production is supplied to the Japanese market, including LVL studs used in apartment and residential applications.

Strengthening Quality as Production Expands

Capacity expansion is being accompanied by continued investment in manufacturing accuracy and quality management.

The second plant is currently applying for JAS certification for non-structural LVL.

While its production equipment is largely based on the proven configuration of the first facility, the new plant has introduced a newer-generation sanding system from the same equipment manufacturer. The upgrade is intended to further improve thickness accuracy and support future opportunities in markets requiring tighter dimensional tolerances, including LVL core materials for joinery applications.

Fuqing Vietnam has also strengthened its workforce ahead of production ramp-up.

Before the second facility entered production, the company trained 20 experienced production employees, including production team leaders. These experienced operators are being paired with new employees to ensure proper machine operation and consistent quality control.

Recognition from a Long-Term Japanese Market Partner

The report also included comments from Sojitz Building Materials Corporation, one of Fuqing’s major import partners in Japan.

Yoshinori Gondo, General Manager of the Wood Materials Department, Wood Business Division at Sojitz Building Materials, stated that the company intends not only to respond to species substitution demand, but also to develop new applications for LVL in Japan and expand the volume of both Vietnam-produced Fuqing LVL and China-produced LVL from Jiangsu Fuqing.

The comments provide valuable market-side recognition of Fuqing’s long-term manufacturing and supply capabilities.

Building Trust Through Consistency

For Fuqing LVL, international growth is not simply about increasing production capacity.

It is about building a manufacturing system capable of delivering consistent quality, dependable lead times and stable long-term supply.

From Jiangsu, China to Vietnam, Fuqing continues to strengthen its global manufacturing network while maintaining its focus on the standards and expectations of established international markets.
