Zheng Weiguang, a calligrapher holding a bachelor’s degree, was born in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, in 1960. He studied traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy under the tutelage of Master Rong Shengzu, and also received professional guidance from Chen Chunsheng, Huang Shan and He Zhanping.

He currently holds multiple academic and industry membership titles: Member of China Couplet Society, Research Fellow for Creation of China Senior Calligraphy & Painting Research Association, Executive Director of Calligraphy Art Research Committee under China Couplet Society, Senior Trainer of Chinese Hard-tip Calligraphy, Member of Chinese Hard-tip Calligraphers Association, Member of China Painting & Calligraphy Collectors Association, Member of Arts and Crafts Committee under China Culture Information Association, Member of Guangdong Hard-tip Calligraphers Association, Member of Guangdong Senior Cadres Association for Calligraphy, Painting, Poetry and Photography, as well as Committee Member of the New Literary and Art Group Calligraphers & Painters Working Committee under China Calligraphers and Painters Federation.

 

 

With a 40-year teaching career and over 20 years specializing in calligraphy instruction, he has authored more than ten teaching papers, which won first and second prizes in provincial and national paper competitions and were published in authoritative provincial and national journals.

In 2013, he was honored as an Excellent Supervising Teacher for Calligraphy Teaching by Zhongshan Municipal Education Bureau and Zhongshan Language and Characters Working Committee, and concurrently awarded the title of Outstanding Instructor for Juvenile Calligraphy Education nationwide by the Evaluation Committee of Chinese Hard-tip Calligraphers Association.

In 2015 and 2017, he was named Excellent Calligraphy Teaching Instructor by Guangdong Vocational and Technical Education Society.

In July 2020, the Department of Education of Guangdong Province conferred upon him the Excellent Calligraphy Instructor award.

In March 2023, he was appointed Visiting Professor by the Art Inheritance Program Group of China Central Television (CCTV).

In March 2024, he was granted the honorary title of Chinese Contemporary Famous Artists Calligraphy & Painting Studio jointly by the Famous Artists in Art and Art Inheritance column teams of CCTV.

In March 2025, several of his poetic works were compiled into Selected Works Library of Daotian Literature.

In November 2025, his calligraphic works were archived into the National Digital Art Resource Library administered by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China.

On December 20, 2025, his calligraphy works were exhibited at Rongbaozhai in Beijing.
